Wildlife Rescuers & Transporters |

Rescuers / Transporters are responsible for responding to calls for
injured, orphaned or trapped wildlife and transporting the wildlife to
Lakota for assessment. Because both the knowledge of safely obtaining
an animal into a transporter and the knowledge of interacting with the
Public as a Representative of Lakota require skill, training is
mandatory. The commitment level of this job requires responding to a
minimum of 4 calls per week for the at least 3 months.

Special Events Representatives |
|

Special Events work will include helping in organizing special events,
soliciting for support, set-up, manning, and break down of booths and
education areas after the event. Scheduling will be dependant on the
event and hours required leading up to the event but are flexible.
Prior experience is a plus but not necessary as this position will
require groups of events personnel to work together, providing on the
job training and experience.

Maintenance of our website is continually needed and positions are
available in Full Time, Part Time and Volunteer capacities. This job
includes web monitoring, updating any needed data, Web design of
upcoming special events and projects, managing sponsor advertisements,
and various web based duties. Hours are flexible and will be worked out
on an individual basis.

This job entails caring for the animals that come to Lakota on a
continual basis. At arrival, each animal must be cleaned and the care
and medical needs assessed and administered. Proper housing must be
arranged and the specific instruction form completed for others who
will also take care of that animal at a different shift. Feeding baby
animals or injured or resident adults, cleaning caging, food
preparation and other general duties are a part of this job.
Communication between shifts is paramount to continued proper care.
This job requires an obvious commitment to attendance at the Lakota
Center but can be Full Time or Part Time and will include working with
and training Volunteer assistants. Initial training and supervision is
mandatory.

This position will entail representing Lakota Wildlife Center as the
educators speaks to groups (either on site or at off site locations
such as schools, churches, etc.) concerning topics of interest about
wildlife and their interaction with humans. Scheduling will be as
events are planned and is flexible.

Maintenance such as mowing grass, seasonal planting and replacement of
shelters and ramps are an ongoing need at Lakota. This job is a very
important position to keep Lakota operating at the standards necessary
to function as a superior care facility. Flexible scheduling on
maintenance and special projects will occur as needs arise.

Construction of Buildings, Habitats, Education Arenas, etc. will be an
ongoing need as Lakota grows. Any help there, Part Time or Volunteer
will be appreciated. Scheduling will be on a per project basis.

Office positions are available both for Full or Part Time Positions as
well as volunteer. This position consists of phone answering, data
entry, filing, mailings, and some assistance with the web site.

Large amounts of food, caging and supplies are donated to Lakota on a
regular basis from our sponsors. Transporters are needed to bring the
supplies back. Scheduling depends on the availability of pickup per the
donor. Many transfers are scheduled far in advance and are consistently
on a specific day but some are one time donations that can be arranged
per pick up.
